Ignite 2019 – Awards Luncheon

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 20, 2019 - 11:30 am to 1:30 pm

Please join the Women’s Business Center (WBC) at Canisius College as we take this timely action of celebrating women business owners who have created success and support the women-owned businesses that are looking to grow. Let’s use the energy the community has today and create great things for tomorrow!

There is a need for us to come together. According to the Harvard Business Review, “Although women start businesses at twice the rate of men, only 2% of women-owned businesses break the $1 million threshold in terms of revenues.”

Through the WBC’s 150+ programs and individual business counseling sessions held last year we saw over 780 participants. Through these efforts the WBC’s economic impact resulted in helping 13 new businesses launch; 21 new jobs created within businesses served and over $1.4 Million in increased profits of our assisted businesses.

Our Ignite Awards Luncheon will be a telling visual of support with business resources, corporate services that serve businesses and business owners. The energy will be palpable, and great connections will be made by all, as this very unique event will match up attendees at the tables with potential clients, partners and/or mentors.

Let’s take this opportunity to join forces to create greater success for us all!

Come Celebrate Women Business Owners of WNY

Women-owned businesses employ 8.9 million employees and generated $1.6 trillion in total receipts.  According to the most recent data in 2015, women-owned businesses saw a 35% increase in receipts compared to male-owned businesses, which saw 33%.  In NYS 36% of businesses are women-owned, making it 4th in the nation with more than 725,000 firms.  All indications are that these numbers will continue to grow across both NYS and the US.

The WBC recognizes the critical role these businesses play in our community and to our economy and invites your organization to join us in honoring some of these key women business owners.
